Reading of the Previous Month’s Minutes: Emailed minutes from the November meeting approved as distributed. Motioned to accept / second and passed.

 

Proposed New Members: The Division welcomed our newest member Brother Michael White.

 

Communications & Correspondence: The Division received thank you notes and messages from The New Britan Baptist Church Food Pantry and Tabor House (Peggy Schmidt) for the generous donation of toys following our Christmas Party.

 

Report of the Committee of the Sick:

We prayed for the following:

The main alter candle at Our Lady of Guadalupe has been dedicated to the prayerful intentions of the Division one week of each month through April.

 

Bills & Claims: $265.00 for the continued use and maintenance of our website as mentioned by Pete Glenn. Motion made/seconded/approved.

 

Piper for Mass St. Patrick’s Day $200.00 mention by George K. Motion made/seconded/Approved

Report of the Standing Committee: Phil Daly – No Report

 

Special Committee Reports:

Membership– Ed Volrath was unavailable; however, we did have Bob Moyer from State who spoke of numerous ideas regarding retention and recruitment. 

 

Educational Pub Crawl – Derek M. – (Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!) Saturday, February 3rd, Jim Thorp Pa. Cost with bus and sweatshirt $60.00 per person.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Party – Jack Brady – The St. Patrick’s Day Party 2024 will be Saturday 3/16 at The Shrine 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm– Insurance cost will be $257.00.  Tables of ten (10) will be available at a price of $250.00 each. More Information to follow.

 

St. Parick’s Day Mass – 3/16 8:00 am Our Lady of Guadalupe.

 

Christmas Social – Ross A. – Great Job Ross and a good time was had by all. Very Special thank you to Jim Kerrigan and Joe Brill for providing the music.

 

Golf Outing – Mike Dougherty - Shooting for May 17th  Heritage Creek with picnic to follow.

Hibernian of the Year – To be announced at the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Please email your secret nominations to info@aohdoylestown.com. Nominations will be held in strict confidence until St. Patrick’s Day. Previous award recipients are not eligible. These would include the following brothers: Pete Murphy Sr. (D) Bill Bryson, Sean McArdle, Bill McDonnell, Matthew Wilson, Derek MacMillian, Jack Brady and myself.

New Business:

Brother Mark Hines discussed “Freedom for All Ireland Foundation”. Mark discussed the importance of raising a minimum of $1000.00 from each of the divisions. Motion was made., seconded and approved for $200.00 contribution and the membership was encouraged to make personal contributions on behalf of the division.

Jack O’Brien - Wreaths Across America – Doylestown Cemetery Sat Dec, 16th. 8:30 am. 850 wreaths will be placed that the nearly 1100 veterans buried at the D’Town Cemetery. This is the first time this honorable event will have taken place in Doylestown. Jack asked for volunteers, especially the veterans within the division.

 

Jack Brady – Proposed a chairman position to oversee all the charity/events committees. Committee Chairman Organizer: Gus Wahl and Jim Morgan volunteered to kick off as Committees Chairmen.

Super Bowl Pool – 20 points per box. Boxes are available – please see / reach out to Vince Post.

Code Blue – Thanks to our Chaplin Msqr. Gentile and the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, they will once again be hosting Code Blue for the month of January. For volunteer opportunities please go to Co2cssh.org . 

Good and Welfare of the Order: 

St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Food Basket Collection and Distribution – Thursday 12/21 St. Mary’s Hall across from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Busiest times traditionally have been 6:00 – 10:00 am and again 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. There was mention of inventory being done on the AOH Locker at the Maennerchor following the close of the food distribution…..(wink, wink) if anyone is around, and interested in participating.

Doylestown Dragons –Brother Brian Kelnhofer has been named President of the Doylestown Dragons Rugby Club. Sponsorship opportunities exist which would include our Div logo on the team’s uniforms. More information to follow. Could also be a good opportunity to bring younger members into the fold.

Joe Herrity – Thank President Michael Dougherty and the Board for their commitment to the organization and the membership.

Irish History: Ed O’Dwyer – Nothing happened in Irland.
